Flower Girl and Ring Bearer on steps

Here you will find answers to some common wedding videography questions. Please know that by no means do we think that we will answer all of your questions here, so please contact me to discuss more of your particular needs.

What is your filming style?

I film an artistic documentary style and a cinematic movie-like style. You choose the film style and the package that suits your budget and desires.  Please view some demos of my work here. Just to give you a bit of the "lingo", there are other styles out there like strait cut & in-camera. Strait cut is when the raw, barely edited footage is given to the couple and in-camera is a short "highlights" type of video.

The strait cut video is so boring, like a home movie. Unedited video, like most home movies, will not be something you want to watch over and over (Read more about wedding video editing here). Strait-cut is also the very easiest to deliver and can be given to you right after the wedding ends. If I just filmed the wedding and delivered the raw footage, I could save 30-40 hours of editing work but customers would end up with a product that they probably would not enjoy.

I offer two unique editing styles:  Artistic Documentary and Cinematic.  To read about the difference, please click here

In the end, I deliver fully-edited DVDs with chapter & menu selections.

Do you have demos?

I shoot about 40 weddings annually and I have lots of demos, click here.

Why should we video our wedding when we already plan on having a photographer?

My wife and I had a wonderful photographer for our wedding. The pictures are beautiful. However, we had a relative video the wedding and the quality was poor. So many times we have wanted to watch our wedding and share it with friends who could not attend but we cannot.

You know, each time I film a wedding, I ask my wife to watch the completed DVD before I send it to the couple to check for mistakes and etc. Each and every time she watches a completed video she says, "I wish we had a professional wedding video done for our wedding."

Also, I think it would be neat to be able to share it with our sons and later grandchildren. We now have children and we will never be able to fully explain the life, emotions, excitement, joy, sights, sounds, and beauty of our wedding day to them.   Video allows you to hear the music, feel the love, and share the story. Video allows you to hear the nervousness of the couple.

Video brings life to all of the emotions of the day. Capturing a tear from a proud father or silly movements of a ring bearer is not possible with still photography.

What kind of attire will you wear at our wedding and will you blend in?

I wear all black attire which is specifically purposed to identify me as one of the people working for you on your wedding day. I sort of try to blend in with the guests at your wedding (as well as you can blend in while carrying a camera). If you are having a formal wedding, traditionally the DJ, Band, and some of the caterers may wear a tux, but photographers and videographers usually wear black only.  You don't want us to look like the groomsmen.

How long will my edited video be?

Generally, my finished work is between 30-45 minutes.  It is usually longer for Catholic and Episcopal ceremonies.

We also have a photographer for our wedding. Will you work well with them?

I have worked with many of the top photographers here in Charleston and know them by name.  We have a great working relationship and will make sure not to be in each others' way.  There are some very important shots that I need during the day. I will coordinate those shots with the photographer to deliver to you the best wedding video possible.

Also, my wife offers wedding photography as well.  When we work together, you not only get a discount for our services, but I have access to the wedding photos as well to create better looking cases and DVD covers.
